The cold season is fast approaching, bringing with it bitter temperatures and strong winds. Your home needs a comfort system that can protect it when the temperature drops below freezing.
HVAC systems like furnaces and heat pumps require an annual tune-up to keep them working efficiently. Preventive maintenance involves clearing out dust and debris as well as replacing parts that may soon fail and put a strain on the system.
At the peak of the summer, your furnace may begin short cycling or emitting odd smells and noises. In most cases, your technician will have no problem repairing the root concern if it’s small and localized.
However, if your system is more than 10 to 15 years old and frequently needs repairs, it may be nearing the end of its functional life span. Replacing it with a new, more efficient model will immediately lower your monthly energy costs and improve your air quality.
Just because the summer has passed doesn’t mean you should neglect your AC unit. After a long warm season of keeping your home cool, your air conditioning system will need a seasonal tune-up before coming on line again in the spring.
Scheduling maintenance in the fall will help you catch any early signs of damage. Without professional care, your AC’s internal problem could grow worse during the winter, leaving you with a faulty system when you need it most.
Prompt and regular service is the best way to maximize your HVAC system’s life span and get the most out of your investment. Air conditioners often alert you that they’re in trouble when they run too long or refuse to turn on when needed. You could also encounter issues with your filter or leaky ductwork that further impacts your cooling.
Our team has loyally delivered responsible indoor comfort services to the Wixom area since 1946. We’re proud to have received an Angi Super Service Award and to be part of Rebuilding Together. We also belong to the Air Conditioning Contractors of America.

Performed Top Rank air conditioning and furnace maintenance in Wixom, Michigan, on a system approximately nine years old. Completed full furnace maintenance, including cleaning the flame sensor, blower wheel, condensate P-trap, and between the burner ports; combustion analysis was good, with readings attached to the invoice. Air conditioning maintenance was completed with good refrigerant readings and overall operation; a high inrush amp draw was noted, so a quote for a soft-start kit will be provided, with no further work needed at this time.
Installed when the power went out and we’re unable to test out it would appear as though everything would’ve worked. Had they not left the switch for power to the furnace off. -set blower speeds and verified the ac is cooling. -additionally silicone sealed a penetration
Found cinder fan to be spinning but system had no compressor, tested sensitive components, found system to have a failed capacitor on the compressor side. Installed new dual capacitor, tested system, system is working properly at this time.
Upon arrival customer stated unit made a loud banging noise and then stopped working - blowing cold air. Upon checking the unit found condenser fan moving with some oppositions, also found burning odor as unit was running. Checked pressure it’s on lower side for the suction line and very high on liquid line. Entire unit was quickly getting ho to touch - the cage and fan area. The Iquitos line was extremely hot. Found shrader valve leaking ac on liquid side New unit recommended. Scheduled with customer. Wed Sept 2 2026
The furnace tune-up was completed with the safety, mechanical, and performance components cleaned, maintained, and tested, including combustion analysis and gas pressure testing. Combustion analysis showed nearly 100 ppm of carbon monoxide, which is an indication that the heat exchanger may be beginning to fail; there is no definitive timeline for how quickly the condition may progress. Carbon monoxide levels in the 100–400 ppm range are considered an indication of a failing heat exchanger, so continued monitoring and planning for replacement is recommended. The humidifier is not operational because approximately 90% of the pad opening is blocked by the existing evaporator coil, and operation is not recommended unless the humidifier is relocated.
Recall. “About ten minutes of operation, noise begins” -observed operation, at about 10 minutes the sound began as homeowner stated, at 12 minutes, the blower stopped. -the repair needed would be a blower motor replacement and the homeowner would rather replace the unit. -follow up with Troy is scheduled today
Replaced the shutoff valves for the washing machine with new 1/4 turn ball valves.
We cleaned the flame sensor and inspected the blower wheel for the furnace. We also tested the inducer motor and did a combustion analysis. The gas valve was repaired for proper gas-pressure testing. For the A/C, we checked the evaporator and condenser, cleaned the condensate drain, and confirmed a 20°F temperature differential.

Jared, Todd & the installers were all great. They were honest, professional, respectful of me and my property, efficient and did an excellent job installing the hot water heater. I would highly recommend them to anyone for sales, service, counsel, etc. As someone retired & on a fixed income, I especially was very grateful they found a discount for me. 😉
